We took birth from the ashes of hate, despair, agony. We are ..The Scars of Ashes!! Life kicked us all so we kicked our lives. Every possibilities and hope is out of our sight. We are..The Scars of Ashes!! ... Few lines from a lyric of my band.

Beware of call centre jobs!

The call centre industry is no doubt to be one of the leading industries of the world now. Millions of new jobs are being generated in this particular industry and could be felt as a blessing for the developing countries like ours.

Economies of the south-east Asian countries are being benefited as there’s more foreign direct investment flowing in. European & American based multinationals are taking the advantage of low labor and operational costs at this part of the world and setting up their call centre customer services here. So it can be understood that it’s beneficial for both of the parties.

There’s a huge labor force ready at hand which is basically a semi-skilled force and waiting patiently fro jobs. With proper training the labor force could be a skilled one and on part of multinationals it’s quite nothing to train people here if they compare it with their costs of running and maintaining at Europe & America. That’s why the industry is growing so rapidly in India, Philippines, Pakistan and recently in Bangladesh.

When anything new comes there’s craze about it and if its something like the growing call centre industry then its like just “O Ma God! I can work in a call centre for a renowned multinational with a lucrative salary! WoW!” Yeah its kind of okay to feel in that way, I’m not blaming it. However there’s few drawbacks of it and recently I worked at a call centre (now I’m out of it!:p) so let me share my experience with you.

The company first advertised at different universities around the city saying they are looking for people with fluency in English to work with them at a call centre which was sister concern of a renowned group of industries of the country (later we came to know that it was not a sister concern). An offer like that can’t be denied at the first place so I decided to give a shot at it. Interview was okay and three us got selected and was said that we would be getting a monthly basic salary of Tk. 9000 plus a bonus of monthly performance for working 4.5hrs a day 6 days a week.

The training was supposed to be of 7 days which became a 15 dayer later. We were told that we would get a sum of money for taking the training but later when we asked for it they said that it was for transport allowance and since they provided cars so nobody’s is getting that.(Note that 4 microbuses for 140 people!). Thing is that at first they didn’t tel us that it was transport money rather it was the training money.

The job started 15 days late and there were many days there were off days and the management didn’t notify me. I traveled to the other part of the city at my office and reaching there I came to know that there’s no office today for “technical difficulties”. So you can understand how I felt at that time.

When the job started we came to know that our salary is no more than Tk. 7500 instead of basic Tk 9000. So at the very first day of the job we three decided to quit. In the meantime we came to know through reliable source that the company doesn’t have proper license. And one day people from Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) raided the office to check for license.

We informed the office about our decision and we were told to bring our resignation letter the next day. So we went next day but there was no sign of H.R and we waited long at the office. This thing happened for a week and later he didn’t pick our calls even. It was like he was playing a game of hide and seek. ;p

That was unbearable on our part as everyday we had to travel a long distance to office and couldn’t get our job done. So we took some measures (obviously was not pleasant for the H.R. at least) and later the H.R. was convinced in some way and he accepted our resignation letter and we left.

So beware of fraud at this industry though it has greater prospects.

Long time .....

Well its been a long time for me to be back here at blogspot.
I was kind of regular blogger at Somewhereinblog.net when the 'famous' site was launched & if you scrawl down, you will see a post about Somewhereinblog.net in which I praised it high but as a matter of I should not have done that. I was actually shocked to see such a beautiful & popular blog being kinda "spammed" or I should say polluted with stupid politics. (sighs..it just trails us everywhere!)

Last time when I was there, the entire blog was divided among different people supporting different political parties. They were busy yelling & screaming at each other, re-dictating the history (obviously in the foul way) and busy cursing themselves. (wow .. gota say they've great spirit within!). Even few didn't pay any respect to our religion by dragging it in middle of their dirty game of blaming each other in regard of the unstable conditions and situations of the country but not discussing the possible ways for the cure. That time I thought I had seen enough so I quit blogging.

As I was saying, its been a while and I had a break kinda thing so I'm thinking again start blogging again and this time not at Somewhereinblog.net ... I just hate it now :p

Well I think I've said enough on my occassion of returning to Blogspot so want to conclude here.

I Have Just Finished Reading The Lord Of The Rings

I have just finished reading Tolkien's epic The Lord Of The Rings. I've never read any epics or story books like this one. Its such an excellent piece of writing. The language of the story is fantastic! Its an story magnificently told, with every kind of colour and movement and greatness. The Lord Of The Rings can't be described shortly. By turns comic, homely, epic, monstrous and diabolic, the narrative moves through countless changes of scences and character in an imaginary world which is totally convincing in its detail. The writer describes his story with many maps, calendars, family trees of the characters of his imaginary world. It is, however, impossible to convey to the new readers all of the book's qualities, and the range of its creation. If you get a chance please read this great book if you like or can watch the movies based on this epic which are Academy Award Winners.

Return Of The Straight Edge Punks

Out of all the post-Nirvana American alternative bands to break into the pop mainstream, Green Day was second only to Pearl Jam in terms of influence. At their core, Green Day was simply punk revivalists, recharging the energy of speedy, catchy three-chord punk-pop songs. Though their music wasn't particularly innovative, they brought the sound of late-'70s punk to a new, younger generation with Dookie, their 1994 major-label debut. Green Day weren't able to sustain their success -- Dookie sold over eight million, while its follow-up, Insomniac, only sold a quarter of its predecessor -- yet their influence was far-reaching because they opened the doors for a flood of American neo-punk, punk metal, and third wave ska revivalists.

Green Day were part of the northern California underground punk scene. Childhood friends Billie Joe Armstrong (guitar, vocals) and Mike Dirnt (bass; born Mike Pritchard) formed their first band, Sweet Children, in Rodeo, CA, when they were 14 years old. By 1989, the group had added drummer Al Sobrante and changed its name to Green Day. That year, the band independently released its first EP, 1,000 Hours, which was well-received in the California hardcore punk scene. Soon, the group had signed a contract with the local independent label, Lookout. Green Day's first album, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hour, was released later that year. Shortly after its release, the band replaced Sobrante with Tre Cool (born Frank Edwin Wright, III); Cool became the band's permanent drummer.

Throughout the early '90s, Green Day continued to cultivate a cult following, which only gained strength with the release of their second album, 1992's Kerplunk. The underground success of Kerplunk led to a wave of interest from major record labels; the band eventually decided to sign with Reprise. Dookie, Green Day's major-label debut, was released in the spring of 1994. Thanks to MTV support for the initial single, "Longview," Dookie became a major hit. The album continued to gain momentum throughout the summer, with the second single, "Basket Case," spending five weeks on the top of the American modern rock charts. At the end of the summer, the band stole the show at Woodstock '94, which helped the sales of Dookie increase. By the time the fourth single, "When I Come Around," began its seven-week stay at number one on the modern rock charts in early 1995, Dookie had sold over five million copies in the U.S. alone; it would eventually top eight million in America, selling over ten million copies internationally. Dookie also won the 1994 Grammy for Best Alternative Music Performance.

Green Day quickly followed Dookie with Insomniac in the fall of 1995; during the summer, they hit number one again on the modern rock charts with "J.A.R.," their contribution to the Angus soundtrack. Insomniac performed well initially, entering the U.S. charts at number two, and selling over two million copies by the spring of 1996, yet none of its singles -- including the radio favorite "Brain Stew/Jaded" -- were as popular as those from Dookie. In the spring of 1996, Green Day abruptly canceled a European tour, claiming exhaustion. Following the cancellation, the band spent the rest of the year resting and writing new material, issuing Nimrod in late 1997. Their long-awaited follow-up, Warning, was released three years later.
